Sculpsure vs CoolSculpting: Which is Better for You?

Everything You Need to Know About SculpSure vs CoolSculpting

Have you been eating healthy and staying active, yet feel as though some areas of your body resist your efforts? This is very common, as certain areas of the body are predisposed to store fat, including the abdomen, thighs, and underneath the chin. Because of this, many people are turning to body contouring treatments to be able to finally remove fat in these stubborn areas.

Body contouring is a non-surgical treatment that works by removing body fat to give the target area a toned appearance. It is important to keep in mind that body contouring is not a substitute for weight loss, and should only be performed on targeted areas. Many patients receive body contouring treatments after major weight loss or childbirth to reduce stubborn fat and tone problem areas.

SculpSure and CoolSculpting are two of the most popular FDA-approved body contouring treatments on the market. So which of these works best to achieve your ideal figure?

Continue reading to learn more about SculpSure vs CoolSculpting and discover how each treatment works and what to expect in order to decide which body contouring treatment is right for you.

What is Sculpsure?

SculpSure is a non-invasive laser body contouring system that can help you achieve a smoother and slimmer, cellulite-free appearance. The treatment has been FDA-approved for use in five areas — the belly, love handles, back, inner and outer thighs, and under the chin. If you have trouble losing fat in those areas, SculpSure is a great alternative to invasive weight loss procedures.

How the Treatment Works

The SculpSure treatment works by delivering laser light through the skin to heat up and destroy fat cells, while simultaneously cooling the skin for comfort. The exposed fat is then gradually flushed out by the body over the next several weeks after treatment.

What to Expect When Receiving SculpSure

During the treatment, up to four separate applicators are held against the skin, based upon the number of areas you wish to treat. The treatment is pain-free and patients generally only feel a tingling sensation of warmth. During treatment, you will lie or sit on an exam chair and relax. You may read, use your cell phone, or even take a nap during the quick 25 minutes that the treatment is being performed.

After your SculpSure treatment is finished, no downtime is needed so you can get back to work or home to your kids immediately after your appointment. The treated area will have over 24% of its fat cells removed. Optimal results of the treatment will be fully visible after 12 weeks, however, many patients notice a difference immediately.

What is CoolSculpting?

CoolSculping is cryolipolysis, or fat freezing, body contouring technology that targets stubborn fat. It has been approved for the treatment of fat on the thighs, abdomen, flank, and under the chin. Additionally, it can target bra, back, and upper arm fat.

How the Treatment Works

CoolSculping works by suctioning the skin and freezing and, therefore, killing off fat cells. The cells are then eliminated through the body’s natural processes via the lymphatic system over time after treatment.

What to Expect When Receiving CoolSculpting

During the 35-60 minute procedure you may experience mild pain, such as sensations of tugging, pinching, intense cold, tingling, stinging, aching, and cramping felt on the treated area.

After the procedure, common side effects include temporary redness, swelling, bruising, tingling, stinging, tenderness, cramping, aching, or skin sensitivity. With CoolSculpting, you can expect to see 20-25% fat loss in the treated area post-treatment. Final results will be visible 6 months or more after treatments, however some patients notice them within 3 months.
