What is the Difference Between Restylane and Juvederm?

Restylane vs. Juvederm: Which is Best for You?

A new and growing number of individuals are turning to fillers to restore a youthful appearance and enhance certain areas, such as the lips. In fact, over two million people received hyaluronic-based dermal fillers in 2020 alone. This is likely due to the fact that dermal filler treatment is quick, virtually pain-free, and requires no downtime.

Here at Aqua Vitality, we offer the two most popular dermal fillers — Restylane and Juvederm. Both of these dermal fillers are extremely safe, with virtually no risk of allergic reaction since they are made with hyaluronic acid, a substance naturally found in the body.

It is important to note that neither product is recommended for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding as no studies have been conducted to confirm safety during pregnancy.

So, which dermal filler should you go with to achieve your desired complexion and boost your self-confidence? Continue reading to learn more about the different types of Restylane vs. Juvederm as well as how they differ in cost and results.

What is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a hyaluronic acid-based, dissolvable dermal filler that contains lidocaine to improve comfort during injection. The gel has a smooth consistency, allowing it to effortlessly absorb into the skin for a flawless look.

You can rest assured that the formula will be well-tolerated since it was FDA approved for adults over 21 years old back in 2006. Juvederm offers five different products based on your skin needs and goals. The treatment is customized to specific areas of the face depending on their condition and the results desired.

Types of Juvederm

Juvederm Ultra XC

Juvederm Ultra XC is used for lip augmentation and to smooth out wrinkles. The product works to correct perioral lines, smile lines, and laugh lines, as well as wrinkles on the cheeks and forehead.

What is Restylane?

Similar to Juvederm, Restylane is also a hyaluronic acid-based dermal filler containing lidocaine. Restylane has a granular consistency that allows for more precise placement, as well as the ability to build up the product. It was first FDA-approved in 2003 and has seven different product variations.

Types of Restylane

Restylane/Restylane-L

Restylane and Restylane-L are used to restore volume to the face in order to correct moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds, such as nasolabial folds. Restylane is also frequently used for lip augmentation.
